After a few days of rest, EEO released another rider who actively participated in the good old Caribbean days of EEO.
Russel entered EEO in season 10, and finished his training in season 11. He was supposed to become a sprinter with climbing abilities, with the main aim being the WC RR. This never worked out as well as planned, but RG became a very important helper both in the sprints and in tours. In hindsight, he should have been trained as Prologue specialist.
In his early career, he scored a few OCM points here and there. At the end of season 14, he went to the Doomsday Bunnies in a deal involving -ironically- prologue specialist Brett Pellegrino. Via Fertiberia Cajasur he ended back at EEO and did outstanding services for two seasons, admittedly quite frustrating ones. Legendary is the interview with a totally frustrated RG. http://www.cyclingsimulator.com/?page=Press%20Release&team=Equipo%20Easy%20On&article=3848
His last days at EEO brought his biggest successes in his career: One 2nd rank, a 4th in Germany tour which got him to the 12th rank in the final GC.
Thanks and Fingers crossed for a few more good seasons in a good team. He developped to be a breakaway specialist.
He was apparently replaced by a young German, Arnold Waldmann, who is a similar rider, albeit a bit stronger in the mountains and weaker in the sprints.
